Library

When we visit the library every other week, our librarian reads a story and teaches a lesson about literacy awareness.  We discuss the author, characters, setting, plot, etc.  We also discuss the parts of a book - front cover, back cover, title page, and spine.  Soon we begin to contrast nonfiction and fiction books.

Children are allowed to self-select 2 books at each library visit. We keep the books in our classroom.  Children store library books in their book bags and read them with buddies or individually. We are able to have many discussions from these books.  I am also able to see what interests your children.
